Come get to know her this Saturday, March 24th from 12pm - 3pm at 1137 South Charles Street!

Whant to do Shots? NO!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday I went back to Hopkins to check out a swelling in my neck. They said it was probably just a structural change in the tumor and it probably was not a blood clot because that would be on the same side as my port. This swelling was not on the same side as my port. After many medical professionals felt my neck I was sent for a CT Scan. It showed a blood clot! Who knew I was capable of getting a blood clot? Apparently the tumor wrapped itself around my little vein and slowed the blood flow back to the heart. The blood got tired of sitting around and started to clot. So now I am on Coumadin, but it takes a few days to kick in, so I have to get shots of Lovenox. Yes, SHOTS. The insurance company and hospital all feel that these can be easily given to yourself or by a loved one. I volunteered Mike and we went back the next day for his training. He did an excellent job. The needle does not hurt becaue it is very small and it is only a subcutaneous injection.

On a lighter note, should i or should i not open the wedding present on my living room floor? It is not actually for me.... But if its a good gift, I could just replace it with one of mine and no one would know the difference.... Hmmm...

My fiance suggested that i keep a blog. Since he does nice things for me, like bringing me ice cream, I took his suggestion. Look, Steven Colbert has his own flavor of Ben & Jerry's! Sorry, Photo Booth seems to be confused and reading things backwards....

Only a month ago I was gainfully employed at WYPR and now I am on a medical leave of absence. This morning I was able to watch 2 full hours of E! True Hollywood Story. Ask me anything about Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn because I am an expert!

So far I have had 3 Rituxan treatments and 1 Chemo (ABVD) treatment. I feel pretty good, just tired. Especially on treatment days when they give me so much benadryl. I get so sleepy....

I can't wait to see Blades of Glory. I heart Jon Heder.

Brushing my hair became too much work, so Kelly from About Faces Timonium cut it all off for me. I think its quite adorable. Kelly is very talented!

Stop Listening for FREE!

I survived my first week at WYPR, 88.1. Everyone is very nice and helpful. I love talking to people in the lunch room, then hearing them on the radio seconds later.

Things I don’t collect…

I don’t collect anything but I sure do have a lot of mugs. You see, I had to buy them or else I would not have anything to drink out of. Below are a few from my cupboard.

Juror #331

I am ecstatic to report that juror #331 was found unacceptable to the defense at 4:30 pm yesterday afternoon and will therefore not be sitting for a 5-day murder trial in Court House East.

Process – Get Organized Already!

Since college, I have moved at least once a year. I go through the steps in this article every time to make sure I utilize my closet space correctly. Elfa is the Today Show’s organizing system of choice, but I prefer Ikea.

The Today Show’s Six Tips to Avoid Closet Clutter
1. Take inventory
2. When in doubt, donate
3. Take measure
4. Maximize space
5. Come out of the closet
6. Switch seasonally

Instructions for Life

The internet has a plethora of directions. Any time I need to know how to do something, I look it up online. For example, I wanted to know more about Feng Shui, so I went online. You could buy the book for $14 or you could read the website and find the same information. The website contains detailed information about how to use the bagua to change your life. I saved myself $14, it must work!

Favorite Typography

I love, love, love how W Magazine opens articles with creative typography. As you can see, they often dedicate one entire page to typography.

Farmed vs Wild

I read about this site in a magazine. Not only do they classify your seafood choices into Best, Good and Avoid, but also they make a handy folding pocket guide. This is great for people who can never remember if they should order farmed, wild or Atlantic salmon. According to the guide, your best choice is wild-caught from Alaska, but you should limit consumption due to mercury concerns.

A few months ago, I started seeing commercials for Sunsilk. The ad campaign caught my eye because it classifies hair in a new way. In the olden days, we used terms like Normal, Oily and Color Treated to describe our hair. Sunsilk uses pointed words like limp, frizzy and poofy. The new terms make me think they are mixing ingredients in a new way that will solve my hair problems better than other products. Free Sample

United Way

I feel the message of this ad really works. It makes me feel good to know that if I donate I will be doing more than just feeding people. Unfortunately, I don’t know if I would have read the ad, had I not been looking for it.

You can't beat the Axis if you get VD

This poster cracks me up because I find it so candid. I consider the 1940’s to be a very hush, hush time when STD’s were NOT discussed. I’m glad to see the government stepped up and addressed the issue. It would be fascinating to see what an equivalent poster directed toward women would look like… probably there is none since women were supposed to be sitting at home, celibate.

Moveover for the Crossover

Ford is launching it's new crossover vehicle, the Edge. No, not hybrid, crossover, a cross between an SUV and sedan. It comes in a flashy metallic orange color and you can plug in your iPod. Who could ask for anything more?

Picture Worth a Thousand Words

To me, this is a picture worth a thousand words. It is not just a picture of a historical statue, but also a picture celebrating the historical event. The fireworks symbolize Americans celebrating freedom and independence while the half-mast flag honors fallen soldiers. All of these pieces together make this photograph meaningful and powerful.

ENGAGED

Saturday after class, my fiancé, formerly my boyfriend, picked me up for a surprise weekend getaway. We drove to the Oxford Inn in Oxford, Maryland, dropped our bags and headed out for a pick nick. Mike led me to a lovely bench overlooking the water at sunset. He got down on one knee and proposed. I said YES!

perpetual sinus headache

Finally, I traveled to the doctor last Friday because I could barely move. My symptoms included sinus headache, sinus pressure, exhaustion, cloudy head. She gave me Zyrtec. I do not feel the Zyrtec is kicking (from the Lanham reading) my sinuses enough! Any sinus miracles I need to try? Have you heard of the procedure below? It sounds very exciting!

Earlier this year a new surgical treatment for sinusitis was introduced to the American public. It involves a small, flexible, sinus balloon catheter that is placed into the nose to reach the sinuses. The sinus balloon catheter, similar in concept to technology found in cardiology, urology, and vascular surgery, is gradually inflated to gently restructure the previously blocked nasal passage, maintaining the integrity of the sinus lining and restoring normal sinus drainage and function. Some surgeons anecdotally report the new devices effectively relieve sinus ostia obstruction with less post-operative pain, scarring, and bleeding than typically seen with traditional instruments. A recently published investigation reports the safety and efficacy of the new devices in relieving sinus obstruction during endoscopic sinus surgery in a small group of ten patients.
